CRIMSON GRACE
long durational live performance art / living sculpture
2 hours
Follow in silence a path of red threads through the forest and find a body suspended above the ground, held by an upside-down red dress stretched between the tall trees.
This body remains between helplessness and support, vulnerability and trust, pain and release, resistance and surrender. It struggles, trembles, slowly shifts and searches for relief, yet remains held. The forest and the audience are invited to be witnesses to this fragile state, without resolution.
The work explores the experience of being powerless and the possibility of remaining present within discomfort rather than escaping it. Rooted partly in my own experience of chronic physical pain, the work reflects a broader sense of unease — physically, emotionally and collectively.
The red organic shape becomes part of its natural surroundings while simultaneously standing in stark contrast to them. The performer hangs: alone, exposed, vulnerable, limp, yet carried and alive.
Crimson Grace is a work, developed during an artist residency at Arteles Creative Center in Hämeenkyrö, Finland, in July 2026.
